In May 2019 I had a 4 day Famil with Carnival Cruises. Boarded in Sydney Harbour on the Carnival Spirit on route to Morton Island.
I made my own arrangements from Wauchope to Sydney Central by train to meet the cruise at the overseas passenger terminal in Circular Quay.
During my stay on Carnival I was located on Deck Seven in a Balcony cabin category. The rooms are spacious and very tidy, with options of having your room serviced morning, afternoon or both. The room attendants were efficient, thorough and very friendly. The balcony was something else, provided amazing views and great fresh air, highly recommend the balcony category. Staff: The staff aboard the Carnival Spirit are fantastic. They give you a real family vibe and are very helpful. Each member I had interactions with were very memorable from their bubbly personalities, service and ethnic background. Definitely an aspect that stood out for me and would cruise again hoping to reunite with those staff.
Carnival provides every room with a full itinerary of the daily activities each night prior, I found this a fabulous idea as I was able to schedule my day, planned around the activities I was interested in. There are many options onboard for all ages, from arts and crafts, live shows, bingo/trivia and dancing there was not a dull moment. Our group was lucky enough to go on a behind the scenes tour throughout the ship, to really get an idea of the ships operations. It was really an incredible experience and highly recommend for anyone who gets the chance.
Each room was provided with a FUN Ashore guide, with full descriptions of the offshore excursions that are available. From feeding Dolphins to scuba diving through ship ruins, Morton Island did not fail to provide. If your more of a flop n drop type of person, Morton Island is the perfect location for this, with the local market nearby you can flop n drop or eat your heart out with a cocktail in hand.
Dining at Nouveau Restaurant which is located in the Funnel of the ship. And the Sail away party located on Deck 9, provided amazing views of both the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge. Recommendations: Definitely do not miss out on having a breakfast burrito onboard it will change your life! Love a bit of a thrill, then I highly recommend going head on with the Carnival Spirits Green Thunder.
