In August 2019 I travelled to Fiji with hosts Viva Holidays, Fiji Airways and Tourist Transport Fiji to review and inspect the resorts of this beautiful holiday destination.
First night was the Warwick Resort (Accommodation was very pleasant, comfortable beds, spacious rooms. Dined at Wicked Walu – Incredible Seafood platter- Very great dining atmosphere surrounded by the ocean with Shark feeding in between your main and dessert).
Second night was the Shangri-La’s (Accommodation provided great views of the near ocean, comfortable beds and very good bathrooms which provided both a relaxing bath and spacious showers.
We dined at the Golden Cowrie Coastal Italian Restaurant- Absolutely stunning and authentic tasting Italian meals, menu has a very large variety of choices and the service was very efficient. Shangri-la’s has a great family vibe section which provides outstanding activities to keep the children entertained. The Shangri-la’s also provides an adult only area- which helps to spilt up the island which gives the resort more space and a private area.
Third night we stayed at treasure island resort (Our greeting onto the island was incredible- greeted by warriors in their traditional grass skirts, war paint and the traditional weapons, Locals playing traditional greeting music on both the ukulele and guitar. Accommodation was oceanfront villas and was incredible been able to walk off the deck straight on to the beach front. Accommodation was new, clean and spacious. We were taken on a guided tour around the island which involved an introduction into their conservation work they do around the island with both the wildlife and nature. (Turtle & iguanas’ rehabilitation). We dined in the BBQ Grill restaurant which is one of their specialty restaurants for private group dining, the food was incredible so was the service).
Fourth & last night was at First Landing Resort (Accommodation was a choice of bureaus and private villas; the bureaus were a very eco friendly vibe where the villas were more up styled with a private pool and separate rooming with a full kitchen. We were provided with a beach front villa – which was incredible to watch the sunrise and the ocean flowing from your very own private pool. We dinned in their main restaurant which provided incredible views of the foot island with the sunsetting behind. The meals were divine, and the entertainment was incredible with their very beautiful goodbye serenade.
On our second day we did a hotel inspection at the Nativi Resort which included lunch- at lunch we were provided with a presentation of how their weaved baskets were made. After lunch we headed to Biausevu Village where we joined in on a traditional welcoming ceremony which involved the traditional drink Kava once greeted into the village, we then proceeded to the Biausevu Waterfalls- where we had a swim and an explore in the rainforest. Day three we experience the waterpark at the Shangri- La’s in the morning then proceeded to a ferry ride on south sea cruises to Treasure Island, then later that afternoon we had a Jet ski tour around Treasure Island. Day four we enjoyed the sunshine and snorkelled with the wildlife of treasure island.
A highlight of the trip for me would have been the Jet Ski tour around the islands, was incredible to get out and adventure around and hear about the different work they do on the islands. Another highlight is how friendly the locals are in Fiji you were always greeted with a big BULA and massive smiles.
